$3,000 goal

On August 26, 2016, ParkerPup turns 9! This year instead of gifts, Parker is asking for donations to Morris Animal Foundation's Golden Retriever Lifetime Study (GRLS).

Can you donate $9 (or more) for Parker's 9 years?

The Golden Retriever Lifetime Study is the first study launched under Morris Animal Foundation's Canine Lifetime Health Project. It is the largest and longest observational study ever undertaken in the United States to improve the health of dogs.

The study is dedicated to helping us better understand what causes major diseases, including cancer, in our dogs. It will lead us to answers that explain why diseases develop, and provide clues as to how diet, exercise, environment and genetics may impact lifelong health and well-being.

The study, launched in 2012 and fully enrolled in 2015, follows more than 3,000 golden retrievers throughout their lives. Each year, owners complete a questionnaire to track the details of their dog's life from diet to sleep, and exercise to environment.

At annual veterinary visits, study veterinarians take blood, nail clippings, fur and other samples, and complete a veterinary questionnaire for our canine participants. Collected data is evaluated continually by our veterinary epidemiologist. The result? Breakthroughs in preventions, treatments and cures for the diseases that shorten the lives of our canine companions.

For the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study, every dog, owner and veterinarian makes a difference!

Help make Parker's birthday wish come true!
