Donor-Advised Funds

A donor-advised fund is a giving account that allows individuals, families and businesses to support favorite charities over time and receive an immediate tax benefit. Consider this option if you make numerous gifts throughout the year, would like to be a Grantmaker, have highly appreciated stock, received an inheritance, are interested in a family foundation without the administrative burden, and more.

IRA Charitable Contributions

Support multiple nonprofits with one IRA Charitable Distribution (or Qualified Charitable Distribution) when you make a single distribution to Colorado Gives Foundation. We’ll provide a Giving Card in the amount of your full distribution that you can use on our charitable giving website, ColoradoGives.org.

Stock Gifts

We accept stock gifts! Get started by learning more to help us be efficient and ensure that stock transfers are posted properly. Be sure to include your name, preferred email address, transfer date, stock name and number of shares, purpose of gift, and any other relevant information. Thank you.

Wires (all amounts)

Steps:

  1. Verify that the nonprofit(s) you want to support are listed on ColoradoGives.org before you determine the total amount of the wire transfer: https://www.coloradogives.org/search
  2. Submit our form here.
  3. Once Colorado Gives Foundation receives the funds, the Foundation will establish a Giving Card representing the dollar value of the funds and email you instructions on how to redeem the Giving Card to designate gifts to one or more of your favorite nonprofits participating on ColoradoGives.org.

A Few Important Reminders

  • The funds and completed form will need to be received by the Foundation at least 10 business days before the Giving Card is intended to be used. In order to participate on Colorado Gives Day in 2022, the Foundation will need to receive the funds and completed form by November 22, 2022.
  • If you would like to cover the 3.99% processing fee so that the full intended amount gets distributed to the nonprofits, factor that into your calculation of the total wire amount.
  • If you do not cover the fee, 2.05% will be deducted when the donation is distributed to the nonprofits.
  • No fee is applied to donations made from wired funds totaling $100,000 or more.
  • Gifts made November 1 – December 6, 2022 will count towards the Gives Day Event and be eligible for a boost from the Incentive Fund.
  • Using your Giving Card, you can make gifts to over 3,200 nonprofit organizations throughout Colorado that participate on Colorado Gives. The minimum gift amount on ColoradoGives.org is $5.00.
  • The Giving Card will expire one year after the date it was issued.  If it is not redeemed before the expiration date, any remaining funds will be distributed to Community First Foundation to support its philanthropic mission.
  • The Giving Card cannot be returned, refunded or transferred.
  • Donations you make using your Giving Card are not tax deductible, and you will not be able to claim any Enterprise Zone or Child Care Colorado State tax credits.
