The true power of giving is knowing that your gift uplifts your neighbors when they need it most. When you donate to the Y, your generosity provides opportunity, nourishes, heals, empowers and creates a stronger community for all.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we provide families with affordable, consistent childcare, support local food security efforts, ensure a nurturing space for kids to learn and grow, respond to local and global crises and outreach to seniors who are feeling isolated.

Here are just some of the ways the Y impacts our community:

• The YMCA of Northern Colorado serves more than 4,000 children with licensed childcare programs annually. That includes preschool, after-school care and summer camps!

• We have provided free water safety lessons to more than 300 preschool- and school-age children over the previous 16 months.

• The YMCA of Northern Colorado has sent thousands of dollars to YMCA Ukraine to support their war relief efforts.

• The Y is expected to provide more than $2 million in financial assistance in 2023 for families, seniors and individuals accessing Y programs and membership in Northern Colorado.

Thank you for considering a donation to support these programs and efforts.

And your gift goes further with the help of the Colorado Childcare Contribution Tax Credit, a 50% state income tax credit.

"The YMCA of Northern Colorado is unique among the nonprofits in the area. We have been in existence since the state was founded and have continued to serve the community in whatever manner has been needed at the time. Certainly, it is clear that the YMCA changes with the times to stay relevant. Currently we are focused on several key issues: affordable, consistent childcare, including preschool, summer camp and after-school care; wellness programs and chronic disease prevention; early childhood education that helps shrink opportunity gaps in our communities; teen leadership training; drowning prevention; and senior fitness and social wellbeing. These are all areas in which we can continue to have a positive effect and make peoples' lives better! Help us help the community by joining the Y or donating today."

"We are incredibly blessed to live in the communities that we do, but we can’t ignore the significant reality that many of our neighbors – including families and children – are struggling. While serving as the Board Chair for the YMCA of Northern Colorado, I’ve come to understand how this organization serves the diverse needs of our community. For example, while the Marshall Fire was devastating our cities, the Y immediately transformed into a shelter for hundreds of evacuees. Staff and volunteers worked around the clock as they provided resources for families, housed dozens of animals in our workout rooms, and ultimately provided a safe space for families to gather their emotions. This is just one example of how the Y steps up to serve our communities every single day. We offer before-and-after-school enrichment for students, youth sports programs, swimming lessons, senior group exercise classes, Parkinson's fitness programs, leadership development for young adults, Food Project Farm, and dozens of other offerings. The Y is so much more than just a “swim-and-gym.” The Y is there for whatever you need, and we thank you in advance for your support.

When you give to the Y, your gift will have a meaningful, enduring impact right in your own neighborhood. Our programs give children a safe place to go after school, Y youth sports build skills and teach teamwork, senior fitness classes create community and support independence, health and fitness programs foster well-being and family programs create connections and promote fun.

This is our commitment, but we can't do it alone. We count on the generosity of our members and partners to help us continue this vital work. Together, we can build a stronger community and create a brighter future for our children.

$50 - Your gift provides a child access to nutrition and gardening programs at the Y’s Food Project Farm, helping us grow gardens as well as gardeners.

$100 - Your gift provides swim lessons for a low-income child. Studies show that formal swim lessons are associated with an 88% reduction in the risk of drowning in children.

$250 – Your donation gives a week of preschool to a child, providing them with compassionate teachers and vital early childhood education.

$500 – Your gift provides a child with a month of after-school care, offering opportunities for kids to connect with mentors and nurture friendships while their parents work.

$1000- Your gift helps a child in overnight camp disconnect from technology, experience the power of nature and learn new outdoor skills in a beautiful setting for one week.

Mission

YMCA of Northern Colorado strengthens community through programs that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. One out of three of our members access Y programs with the aid of financial assistance.

Background Statement

Early in its history, the YMCA offered prayer meetings and Bible classes, lectures and social events and served as a safe haven for young men trying to avoid the temptations of life in cities. Today, the YMCA of Northern Colorado is still a safe haven--for people of all ages, all abilities, all ethnic backgrounds and all walks of life. The Y is a nonprofit, non-denominational, charitable, private organization under 501C3 of the internal revenue tax code.

The YMCA of Northern Colorado was founded in 1874 as a wholesome sanctuary for young men and boys in the wild West. Inactive in the 1940s, the Y was re-chartered in 1955. In 1966 the Mapleton Center opened its doors. Renovations to the Mapleton Center were completed in 1979, 1998, 2000, 2007 and most recently in 2009. In the summer of 1998, as the new millennium approached, the Arapahoe Center facility was built to serve the East County region. Unique for any YMCA, the Arapahoe Center has a year-round ice rink and artificial turf field. In the summer of 2010, the Y opened the new family aquatic center at the Arapahoe Center in Lafayette, complete with outdoor pool, giant slide, splash park, wading pool, volleyball courts and picnic tables. And in 2015, the Longmont Y and the YMCA of Boulder Valley merged to become one newly strengthened organization. We opened the Johnstown Community YMCA in 2020 and changed our name to YMCA of Northern Colorado to better represent the communities we serve in Boulder, Broomfield, Weld and Larimer counties.
