WATER RIGHTS ARE WOMEN'S RIGHTS
All around the globe, every aspect of a woman's life – schooling, physical safety, health, economic opportunity, safe childbirth – can be impacted from a young age by the lack of access to safe water and sanitation.
Water For People is taking on the global water crisis and changing millions of lives through water, sanitation, and hygiene services for women around the world in the 9 countries where we work.
Together, we can make a difference.
Testimonials
"Water changes lives. For years I heard the statistics and read the personal stories, saw photos and watched videos. I understood that people's lives were being transformed by access to clean water and sanitation. But when I had the opportunity to go on a Water For People connection tour in Rwanda, I got to see this reality in person. Our family supports Water For People not only because of what they do but also the way they do it. By collaborating with local community members, government and businesses, they help build solutions that last. In Rwanda, we visited schools where girls spend their days learning instead of fetching water. At a clinic, nurses described how cases of water borne diseases dropped sharply after new taps were installed nearby. We met individuals who earn an income by managing and maintaining water systems or through sanitation as a business. With significant challenges such as weather, geography and funding, it was powerful to see the changed lives and the progress being made thanks to Water For People's hard work and unwavering commitment. As one of the local staff members commented, 'Water For People keeps their promises.' "

Water For People Champion
"Having spent a 40-year career working to improve people's health by designing water and wastewater treatment facilities in developing and developed countries, we wanted to leave a permanent legacy of addressing this fundamental health issue in the underdeveloped world. We have been aware of the great work done by Water For People since its beginnings in Denver years ago, and felt that it deserved to be a part of our estate planning. As a result, we set up a Charitable Remainder Trust - which provides us with tax benefits and an annuity during our lifetimes, then helps fund the many ongoing worthwhile programs of Water For People. We encourage others to consider making Water For People, and its important work, a part of their legacy."
