Testimonials

“I think it’s important to have quality, unbiased information about water available both to the water community but also to the greater state of Colorado. To the extent that WEco is figuring out how to broaden the tent of people who understand and care about water, that’s worth supporting.” – WEco member
"There really isn't anything else like this for the general public. It is so informative but also easy to read and understand." - Headwaters magazine reader

"I am always learning what I can about water and the west so this helps tremendously. We are having drought-resistant grass installed today in our yard so we can conserve even more water." - Fresh Water News reader

"These kinds of events, especially bringing elected officials together with water industry folks across the state, are key to meeting the water challenges of Colorado." - Annual River Basin Tour participant

"I gained much more than I was expecting. I went into the program looking to learn some management skills. But the program gave me so much more. We had to participate in so many activities that pushed my comfort zone. These activities and lessons helped me realize my strengths and understand how I can optimize them to my own leadership style." - Water Leaders Program graduate

"This is a great program that should be offered in high school or college as a core requirement. Everything that we learned affects everyone in the state." - Water Fluency Program graduate

"I always learn so much at this conference. I would recommend to any level of knowledge because there is something to learn for everyone." - Sustaining Colorado Watersheds Conference attendee

Mission

We're on a mission to ensure Coloradans are informed on water issues and equipped to make decisions that guide our state to a sustainable water future.

Background Statement

Colorado can't live without water.

Our food, economy, culture-and our very survival-depend on abundant, clean and accessible water.

In 2002, amid the worst single-year drought on record in state history, the Colorado Legislature founded Water Education Colorado. Our 501(c)(3) nonprofit is charged with the important task of ensuring a sustainable water future for our state by educating and engaging Colorado community members, leaders and decision makers around this limited resource.

Like Colorado's water pioneers, who first came together to solve massive water infrastructure challenges, Water Education Colorado and its members are committed to advancing solutions in the same spirit of yesteryear, that of courage, leadership, innovation and collaboration. Our world of water is more complex and threatened than ever before, but with understanding and tools that are light years ahead, we are working to ensure a better water future for all.
