Politics created a hunger crisis, and The GrowHaus is responding with urgency and action.
When $120 million in SNAP benefits were frozen for Coloradans, waitlists for The GrowHaus’ food access programs were already long. In response, we activated our Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program to serve hundreds of households at our warehouse in Park Hill and through satellite distributions, while maintaining our 21 food access sites across the City.
Our community of supporters showed us that every day is Colorado Gives Day and helped us activate our emergency response program. But the need is rising every day, and we are turning to The Colorado Gives Community for support. As part of this statewide giving movement, you have the opportunity to stand with us and ensure that our neighbors are nourished, supported, and seen during these uncertain times. Choose The GrowHaus as your Colorado Gives Day partner and donate now.
We are devastated by the unfolding food crisis.
Food access needs in our communities have grown beyond what we experienced during the pandemic. Before the federal government shutdown, families were already reaching out, asking when fresh food distributions would expand. Now, with November SNAP benefits paused for more than 600,000 people, and furloughed federal employees going weeks without pay, a food crisis is unfolding in our City

The GrowHaus immediately responds.
We launched our Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program, and the response has been overwhelming, with hundreds of households already registered and requests for participation rising each day. To expand our reach, we activated satellite distributions in partnership with GES (Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea) Coalition and Thriving Families, and will add additional sites as resources become available. Meanwhile, our regular programs continue serving over 7,000 people a month through no-cost fresh food access and community-based wellness and education initiatives.
What happens when SNAP is reinstated?
SNAP benefits will not be reinstated as usual. New federal rules may remove about 2.4 million people from the program, reduce benefits for others, or make it harder to qualify because of expanded work and eligibility requirements. In Colorado, roughly 27,000 people are estimated to lose their SNAP benefits overnight. Our neighbors will be dealing with the ripple effects of lost access for a long time, and many were already facing food insecurity before this shutdown ever happened.
When the spotlight moves away from food insecurity, the public conversation often turns off, but the need is growing. Choose The GrowHaus as your Colorado Gives Day partner to support our emergency food response.
