Making a Huge Difference in the Lives of Kids: What Skaters and their Parents say about the Steamboat Skating Club

"In the Skating Club, I get to be myself, work hard, and learn new things with my friends. Everyone is so supportive. I have a family there," Skating Club skater

"Our daughter has found her passion, confidence, and dearest friends through the skating club, for which we are hugely grateful. We love that she's learning courage, grit, and resilience in literally having to get up when she falls," Skating Club Mom and Dad

"What's so cool about the Skating Club is we're a team, even when we're competing against each other. My teammates cheer me on, and are the first ones there when I don't do as well as I want. I love the Ice Show, and the chance to show what I and the whole Club can do!" Skating Club skater

"I have watched my child's self esteem and confidence grow by leaps and bounds in the Steamboat Skating Club. I have not experienced this strong of a commitment to the positive developmental growth of my children in any other extracurricular program in Steamboat or anywhere. The Skating Club is truly a special, one of a kind program, unmatched in my opinion," Skating Club parent.

Mission

The Steamboat Skating Club is an inclusive organization that provides ice skaters of all abilities and ambitions the opportunity to develop personally, athletically and artistically in a positive, fun, and supportive environment.

Background Statement

The Steamboat Skating Club is the only youth figure skating development program of its kind in the Yampa Valley, serving children and young adults ages 5 to 18.

Originally founded in 1994 as the Steamboat Figure Skating Club, our organization has introduced hundreds of young skaters to the sport over the past 29 years. As of 2025, we proudly support a diverse group of over 40 skaters ranging from beginners to advanced athletes, representing a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

Our club is guided by a team of four highly accomplished coaches and a dedicated volunteer board. Together, they foster a supportive and challenging environment that helps every skater grow in skill, confidence, and character.

In addition to strong community programming, the Steamboat Skating Club is also a competitive force. Our skaters consistently achieve top finishes and podium placements at competitions throughout the region, reflecting the strength and dedication of both our athletes and coaching staff.

We are also proud to host an annual Spring Ice Show—a Theater on Ice–inspired performance that brings our entire skating community together. Past productions have included Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Seussical, and Beauty and the Beast. Our 2025 show, Eras on Ice Tour, showcased skaters of all levels and highlighted their passion, teamwork, and talent under the spotlights. This event continues to be a beloved tradition, celebrated by both skaters and the broader community.

Your support helps keep our programs accessible and high-quality. Every donation directly contributes to the development of young athletes—fostering their love for skating, building self-confidence, encouraging teamwork, and strengthening their connection to the community.
