Testimonials

"It is a privilege for the Board of Pueblo County Commissioners to recognize the Senior Resource Development Agency (SRDA), for the phenomenal job they do in providing an eclectic mix of services that benefit, not only our senior citizens, but the community in general, such as the "2-1-1 for Southeast Colorado", a program that assesses the needs of the caller and puts them in touch with the community services available to meet those needs...."

Mission

The mission of SRDA is to provide programs and projects that enhance the quality of life for the older adult community of Pueblo and increase opportunities for independent living. Through its inclusive structure, SRDA ensures that Pueblo area older adults, along with our disabled community members, have the opportunity to maintain healthy, self-reliant, and independent lifestyles.

Background Statement

In 1971 a group of citizens came together to form the Senior Resource Developement Agency (SRDA) in Pueblo, Colorado. The initial purpose of the organization was to provide homebound seniors with nutritional meals, but within a short period of time other needs were identified and the birth of the transportation, home maker and congregate meal site programs came to life. All programs that are funded through the Older American's Act.

In 1990, the late Joseph H. Edwards, a retired businessman, bequeathed the city of Pueblo a sum of 1.1 million dollars to be used for the benefit of senior citizens. The Joseph H. Edwards Trust Fund Committee was formed and the community center where the SRDA is housed, was built and the center has been fully operational and reaches the largest number of Pueblo's population through its programs and centrally located building.

In the early nineties, SRDA negotiated with a local hospital to acquire the Lifeline medical alarm program and it is a revenue generating program that has supplemented SRDA programs for over twenty years.

In 2006, SRDA added a 211 Information and Referral Call Center for 11 counties in Southeastern Colorado. Housed in conjunction with the ADRC program, a case management program, both programs enable clients to one-stop access to long term care and community resources. These services help SRDA advocate for our customer needs.

Since its inception SRDA has been the focal point of senior services throughout Pueblo County. It has evolved into a premier agency recognized by the State and the El Pomar Foundation for its excellence in delivering much needed programming to the aging and disabled population.

Today SRDA provides twelve different programs to support its vision of providing the best comprehensive coordinated delivery system for its customers.
