Spark the Change Colorado is a statewide leader that inspires, engages, mobilizes and empowers thousands of individuals, organizations, and communities to become a driving force for good through the power of volunteerism, service and civic engagement.
At Spark the Change Colorado, we are innovators, idea generators, listeners and connectors. We believe in the power of bringing people together to become changemakers. Not out of duty, but out of a shared passion to unite under a mutual concern for each other.
We are a trusted resource, strategist and partner that works to bring together individuals and groups who want to give back, with organizations and causes who are working to make the most impact. When they come together, transformative change is sparked where it is needed most. We ignite bold conversations about what is most urgent in our communities. We spark a sharing of passions and pride in good work done for others and, along the way, we spark new friendships, joy and a renewed sense of hope for the future.
We SPARK CHANGE and INSPIRE A MOVEMENT OF GOOD through the power of volunteerism, service and civic engagement.
Spark the Change Colorado, formerly Metro Volunteers, was formed in 1994 as the result of a merger between the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) and the Volunteer Center, a program of the Mile High United Way (MHUW). Between 1994 and 2003, the organization operated programs that fulfilled a two-fold mission statement to build the effectiveness of nonprofits (from TAC) and connect people with volunteer opportunities (from the Volunteer Center).
In 2004, the Metro Volunteers Board and staff decided that the agency could have a greater impact on the community if it focused its mission solely on volunteerism. During the same time, Metro Volunteers became an affiliate of the Hands On Network, a national alliance of volunteer organizations whose mission is to transform people and communities through service and civic engagement.
In 2018, Metro Volunteers became Spark the Change Colorado. We wanted a name that encompassed the entire state of Colorado and the action of the changemakers who volunteer here!
Spark the Change Colorado currently provides direct service programs including : The Mental Wellness Program, Senior Companion Program, & Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
We also provide training & support in Board Leadership & Service, Skilled Volunteering, Service Enterprise, Volunteer Engagement, and Disaster Response & Recovery Volunteering. Additional services for Group/Corporate Volunteering and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) available.
