Help Dogs - Help People!

Empower People with disabilities through the healing power of dogs!

Donate to Soul Dogs Inc this Colorado Gives Day!

Your gift powers animal‑assisted therapy, rehabilitation, and paid skill‑building—so more neighbors can heal and work alongside the dogs who help them.

At Soul Dogs, Inc., we believe in the healing power of the human–animal bond. Every service we provide reflects our commitment to fostering connection, growth, and resilience. We stand by our belief that animals are not just companions but partners in transformation—helping individuals heal, learn, and thrive.

Soul Dogs, Inc. creates meaningful opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by training and empowering them to become dog trainers, opening doors that may not have previously existed for this population. As our dog trainers go through our Dog Training Academy they themselves train and develop The Soul Dogs: our service and therapy dogs. Our dog trainers also provide obedience and advanced dog training classes to the community.

We also support our clients with community employment including job search and supported employment in the community. Our job coaches foster independence and resilience through out the process in a supportive trauma informed way.

Our Impact

  • Therapy & Rehab: Trauma‑informed, animal‑assisted care that builds regulation, confidence, and independence.

  • Supported Employment: Coaching, certifications, and real‑world roles that open paid pathways.

  • Dog Training Academy: Training apprentice dog trainers while preparing service/therapy dogs and offering accessible obedience classes for our community

Giving Activity

Mission

Soul Dogs, Inc. provides behavioral, habilitative, rehabilitative, and professional development services to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities and autism. Our vision is to provide ongoing documentation and evidence of the power of the human-animal relationship in healing trauma.

We focus our services for those in the IDD system. However, we are an inclusive program and welcome individuals from the community to participate in our classes. We hope this therapy will one day be funded by states providing IDD services.

Background Statement

Soul Dogs, Inc. was founded by Chris Anderson, a therapist with over 45 years of experience. Driven by her vision of using animals as healing agents for individuals struggling with trauma, Chris established Soul Dogs with a mission to support the underserved. Since its inception in August 2019, Soul Dogs has continued to grow, developing programs that focus on people with disabilities and trauma. Today, our offerings include a Dog Training Academy, behavior therapy, supported employment, mentorship, and community-based dog training.
