$60,000 Goal

Retrocycle is a Colorado-grown nonprofit on a mission to fix one of the simplest, most solvable problems in our daily lives: the mountain of single-use cups we throw away every time we grab a drink on the go. We help towns and cafés switch to durable reusable cups that look great, feel great, and make waste reduction something the whole community can take pride in.

We aim to keep things simple. We equip local cafés with high-quality reusable cups, train staff on easy returns, and partner with towns to build community-wide systems that make reuse the norm. No guilt trips or complicated tech - just a clean, convenient loop that works for businesses, residents, and the millions of visitors who love Colorado’s mountain towns.

In 2026 we’ll launch our flagship reuse program in Summit County, with plans to expand across the state. And this Colorado Gives Day, we’re raising $60,000 to make sure we walk into launch with strength. Your support will help us purchase our first wave of reusable inventory, create education campaigns for cafés and residents, and build the kind of community engagement that makes a new system stick.

And here’s the exciting part: A generous supporter is matching all donations up to $60,000. Your gift doesn’t just help us get started. It helps us scale. Every dollar you give becomes two, and every cup we put in someone’s hand brings us closer to making Colorado a leader in reuse.

If you’ve ever thought “there has to be a better way than all this waste,” Retrocycle is building that way. With community support, we can turn reuse from a niche habit into a statewide norm.

Let’s build a cleaner, smarter, Colorado together.

Mission

We reduce single-use waste by harnessing the power of education, convenience, and community to make reusable food and beverage packaging the effortless, accessible choice for all.

Background Statement

Retrocycle was born from two complementary callings. Joey’s comes from nearly a decade of military service, where he learned that strong systems, responsibility to community, and service-before-self can change outcomes at any scale. Meredith’s comes from a career in marketing and brand strategy, where she saw how powerful community can be when people feel connected to the places they live, visit, and love. Both wanted to build something that made daily life better for the environment and the people who rely on it.

After years working in sustainability, circular systems, and community engagement, they noticed the same gap: towns and cafés wanted to move away from single-use waste, but there was no simple, community-first pathway to get there. Mountain towns like Breckenridge face enormous pressure from the volume of to-go drinks consumed by residents and millions of visitors each year. Local businesses want to reduce waste, but they lack time, tools, and the support needed to try something new.

Retrocycle was created to fill that gap. Our nonprofit brings together Joey’s operational discipline and commitment to public service with Meredith’s community-building instincts and passion for environmental impact. Together, they designed a reusable cup system that is simple, familiar, and rooted in existing community infrastructure. Instead of building expensive wash hubs or complicated tech, Retrocycle empowers cafés to use the equipment they already have, and helps towns rally their residents toward a shared environmental win.

At its core, Retrocycle exists to serve people. We partner with municipalities and small businesses to replace single-use waste with durable, reusable cups that circulate through the community. We build programs that are easy to adopt, financially practical, and designed to strengthen local connection. And we do it because we believe communities deserve systems that respect their environment, their values, and their future.
