A Carbon Neutral Colorado Powered by 100% Renewable Energy
The Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES) drives environmental, social, and economic benefits for Colorado by promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency.
CRES and its local chapters provide education, policy advocacy, and community engagement that accelerate the adoption of all forms of renewable energy, energy efficiency, high-performance building, energy storage, and emerging technologies that will help Colorado achieve 100% renewable energy. CRES is a statewide, non-partisan, non-profit, 501(c)3 membership organization.
CRES was established in 1996 in the Denver area as a statewide organization to advance renewable energy development. Soon after regional chapters formed including Southeastern Colorado Renewable Energy Society (SECRES) in Colorado Springs-Pueblo areas and the Northern Colorado Renewable Energy Society (NCRES) in Fort Collins. In 2013 CRES formed three new chapters in Boulder, Golden and Metro Denver.
CRES draws its strength from its member volunteers who contribute thousands of hours each year in support of our programs and events. Our membership spans a broad range of knowledge and experience and includes recognized experts in research and development; residential, commercial and utility-scale applications; finance and economic analysis; public policy and legal issues; community development and sustainability; rural, agricultural operations; and, environmental and climate change issues.
CRES business members play an important role in supporting CRES events and activities. CRES provides business members with direct access to Colorado residents interested in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
