While we focus on rescuing and rehoming small breeds under 30 lbs, our passion drives us to help wherever the need is across the United States. Every dog deserves a loving home, and we're dedicated to giving these little companions a fresh start, full of hugs and hope.

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome Pugs and small breed dogs in need, providing them with compassionate care, medical attention, and loving forever homes. We are dedicated to educating the community on responsible pet ownership, advocating for animal welfare, and ensuring every dog gets a second chance at a happy and healthy life.
Pugs and Hugs Rescue Inc. was founded in March 2025 by Lisa Gyger, a lifelong animal lover with a deep devotion to pugs. After years of volunteering with other rescue organizations, Lisa saw how much a dog's future depends on finding the right match, not just the first available home. She started Pugs and Hugs so that every pug in her care could get that kind of personal attention.
At Pugs and Hugs, each adoption is a thoughtful match. Lisa personally reviews every application, gets to know each family, and makes sure the home fits the dog's personality, health needs, and lifestyle. Many of the pugs who come to us need veterinary care, patience, and time to heal. They get all of that in loving foster homes while they wait for their perfect family.
Our goal is simple: the right home, the first time, for every pug. With the support of our volunteers, fosters, and generous community, we're giving pugs a fresh start and the forever families they deserve. Every gift helps one more pug go from hurting to hugged.
