Spencer and family"I arrived at Providence House in 2008 as a very hopeless and broken young man. I will never forget lying in my bed that first night staring at the ceiling with tears and a sigh of relief as I felt safe and hopeful for the first time in years. I had arrived at Prov after some scary years of heavy alcoholism which lead to living in and out of weekly motels, homeless shelters, tents, and on the streets.
Due to the dedication and love from the Prov staff I was able to rebuild my life and graduated in 2010 moving to Victory House which helped prepare me for independent living. I am now a Masters prepared mental health nurse working at an inpatient recovery program serving Veterans with substance use disorders. I have restored the relationships with my friends and family and am happily married. My wife just gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
We have been donating monthly for a few years now as a small token of our gratitude. Providence Network saved my life and I will forever be grateful for the important work you folks do. Due to the hard work and dedication of your staff, it has been over 16 years since I’ve had a drink, and I am able to use the lessons of my addiction to serve others everyday. I encourage you to stay inspired as you never know what impact your hard work will have on the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
– Spencer, Providence House Graduate & Monthly Donor
Typically at year-end, we need to raise approximately $300,000. This year we also lost several key donors, amounting to $200,000 less in funding than expected. Would you prayerfully consider giving extra to help us meet our fundraising need of $500,000?
A gift of $25,000 or more is eligible to dedicate a bedroom at Silver Lining House or apartment at Joy House. Your chosen name and inspirational message will be displayed at the doorway. Gifts may be individual or combined. Your donation may be eligible for a 25% Homeless Contribution Tax Credit (HCTC). Learn more at: providencenetwork.org/hctc
*All room dedication names subject to Providence Network approval. DAFs not eligible for HCTC.
To heal broken lives from the inside out through faith-based transformational housing communities
Providence Network (PN) began in the 1980s when a group of Christian business leaders partnered with an 18-year veteran of urban ministry to serve people with lives characterized by chronic poverty, homelessness, substance abuse, and despair. Our programs address complex physical and emotional issues through a “life-on-life” model that blends professional services and mentoring in a home-like atmosphere with 24/7 live-in staff.
PN currently operates three transitional housing programs, known as FirstStep homes, as well as two affordable housing apartment buildings, known as NextStep communities. Through this unique, two-tiered model, PN has become recognized as an agent of change to lives, neighborhoods, and communities.
After more than 38 years, PN remains driven by a singular vision: To develop communities of transformed individuals and families living out healthy lifestyles characterized by reconciliation, economic self-sufficiency, and spiritual wholeness. The ripple effect of this work replaces a generational cycle of poverty and abuse with positive physical and mental health, the tools to succeed, and hope for the future.
