Building Resilient Families, Together.

Parent Engagement Network (PEN) has been supporting parents and caregivers in raising healthy, happy humans since 2001. We meet parents where they are, helping them successfully navigate every stage of the parenting journey by:

  • Providing strength-based programs to EMPOWER parents with tools.

  • Facilitating parent groups to help them ENGAGE and build communities.

  • Offering resources to EDUCATE parents about important issues.

The 2024 U.S. Surgeon General’s Report states: “Strong, supportive parenting contributes not only to the well-being of the child(ren) but to society more broadly—e.g. healthier children, better development outcomes, fewer long-term health and social costs.”

This is exactly what your donation to PEN supports. When you give to PEN, you invest in the future of families and children in our community. Your contribution directly helps create a supportive environment where parents can:

  • Access expert guidance.

  • Connect with others facing similar challenges.

  • Learn practical strategies to nurture strong, healthy relationships with their children.

Your generosity ensures we can continue offering parenting programs that promote strength and resilience, hosting community events that foster meaningful connections, and providing trusted resources that support families in navigating life’s complexities.

Every contribution makes a difference. Together, we can ensure that no parent feels alone. Donate to PEN today and champion engaged, informed, and empowered parenting.

Thank you for investing in the future of our parents and children!

Mission

The mission of Parent Engagement Network is to support parents in raising healthy, happy humans.

Our 4 Key Initiatives include:

- Reducing Stress & Anxiety

- Raising Kids in a Digital Age

- Building Resilient Families

- Preventing Drug & Alcohol Misuse

Background Statement

In 2001, parents of the Boulder Valley School District responded to a call to action to address high rates of drug and alcohol use and other high risk behaviors in local youth. A Substance Abuse Task Force was formed, funded by a grant from the US Department of Education's Safe and Drug-Free Schools. Parents advanced their involvement, founding the Parent Engagement Network (PEN), which became a 501(c)3 in 2009. PEN maintained an alliance with BVSD and other organizations, while expanding its initiatives.

PEN leaders recognized that risky behaviors were symptoms and set out to take a strength-based approach and address prevention. PEN initiated work to empower parents with educational resources & programs so they could better understand parenting tools that could help reduce risky behaviors and promote resilience. PEN launched community events, with experts addressing relevant topics and facilitated volunteer-led, school and community based programs.
