Support Latino Art and Culture

Every dollar you donate on Colorado Gives Day fuels our mission to collect, preserve, and showcase the diverse arts and cultures of the Americas. Your support is an investment in vital educational experiences, artistic growth, and cultural preservation right here in the Denver Metro Area.

Our Impact: By the Numbers (2024)

Your support directly translates into significant community engagement and cultural enrichment:

  • 35,000+ visitors welcomed to our gallery and traveling exhibitions.
  • 12,000+ participants engaged through our educational workshops and programs.
  • 260 dedicated members support our mission annually.
  • 96 volunteers contributed 1,331 hours of service.
  • 8 interns gained valuable experience, providing 1,410 hours of support.
  • 73 vendor spots were filled across our community events, supporting local entrepreneurs.

Our Impact: Experience, Education, and Equity

Museo is more than a museum—we are a dynamic cultural hub that activates our community through three core pillars:

1. Exhibitions: Preserving Heritage and Driving Dialogue
In 2025, we delivered profound cultural enrichment through a powerful cycle of rotating exhibitions in our contemporary gallery. Each show transforms our space and tackles critical themes of history, identity, and belonging. Your support brings to life narratives like: the complex, personal, and challenging journeys explored in Migrants: A Tale of Two Hearts; the overlooked critical historical narrative of the AfroMexican Journey: Yanga, Slavery, & Freedom; the welcoming community spirit of Museo es tu Casa; and the unique textile mastery of Rosas y Revelaciones (our current feature). Through these powerful, narratives, we ensure our history is collected, preserved, and presented, inspiring new ways of understanding the Americas.

2. Experiential Education: Skills for the Future
We connect Latin American art and culture with critical 21st-century skills.

  • Youth Leadership: Our intensive, no-cost Lxs Jóvenes Leadership Lab annually develops the next generation of Latinx leaders, focusing on art, mental health, and confidence-building for 45 students.

  • Arts Integration: Our multi-week Summer Arts + Culture Camp provides multidisciplinary arts education, helping students build essential skills like critical thinking and emotional intelligence while connecting deeply with cultural competency.

  • Workshops & Tours: We offer engaging, hands-on workshops (including S.T.E.A.M. integration) and lively, bilingual tours (English and Spanish) for all ages, unlocking new, vibrant understandings of Latino art and culture.

3. Community & Connection: Making Culture Accessible
We host annual signature events that introduce a greater familiarity with the diverse cultures of the Americas and deepen local community connections.

  • First Friday Art Walks attract over 1,000 attendees monthly, celebrating Latin American art and culture with immersive, themed experiences.

  • We proudly collaborate on the state’s largest Día de Muertos Procession, honoring this ancestral tradition with thousands of participants.

  • Our regular programming, including the Spanish Conversation Club, customized Creative Art Workshops, and enlightening ConnectArte talks, ensures continuous, year-round access to the arts for adults.

Please make your donation today to empower us to continue collecting history, educating our youth, and celebrating the vibrant culture of the Americas.

Mission

Museo De Las Americas is dedicated to educating our community through collecting, preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting the diverse Latin American arts and cultures, from ancient to contemporary, through innovative exhibitions and programming. Our emphasis on Latin American culture allows us to present a rich tapestry of experience and creativity to all visitors.

The museum's mission is not only to preserve art and culture but also to serve as a bridge that connects generations and fosters a dialogue that inspires, educates, and celebrates the roots and traditions of Latin America.

Thanks to the commitment of our collaborators and donors, Museo de las Américas remains a leading institution in promoting Latin American cultural heritage.

Background Statement

Colorado has long been home to a thriving community of Latin American artists, yet mainstream arts organizations in the 70's and 80's did not hold space for Latin American artistry and culture. So in April 1991, a group of dedicated Latino and Hispanic artists and arts administrators got together to create Museo de las Americas, a museum where Latino Art, Culture and History would be put on a pedestal and celebrated for generations to come.

Museo de las Americas opened its doors to the public in April 1992, and has spent the last three decades shining a spotlight on our community’s creative achievements. Each Executive Director brought their own vision and growth goals for Museo, helping build us into who we are today.
