Helping people connect one stitch at a time.

Employment. Confidence. Community.

"The first ten years of my life were spent in eight different foster homes until I was adopted. After High School, I worked on and off at nine different jobs. My mental health struggles and the accompanying stigma were obstacles to successful employment for me. At Mindful Works, I have gained so much confidence. I started with very short shifts and am now working more than 15 hours per week. I've gained so many skills, including stitching, sales, time management and self confidence."

-Tracy, Mindful Works Program Participant

Tracy's happiness and stability are obvious as she bursts into the Shoppe each day, full of energy as she greets everyone with her contagious smile. She, and many of our program participants have expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work in a stigma-free shop and be a part of our community... and happy to earn a paycheck!

Background Statement

Windhorse Guild, Inc, a nonprofit, was established in 2000 when a young woman, a client of Windhorse Community Services, wrote a letter to her psychiatrist eloquently stating, "Now I am experiencing this beautiful idea (recovery). Yet, something was missing. How would I ever get from bring a Windhorse client to an active member in society with a job? I came up with the idea of creating a nonprofit piece to Windhorse, the Windhorse Guild, would would offer a transitional work program for the clients that felt like me. They were feeling better, but how cold they make this leap back into the world." After a few starts and stops, the Guild in 2014 rediscovered its Mission: Provide opportunities and resources for people with mental illness to gain skills and ability to get back to work, as well as to provide actual jobs and training through an affirmative business. And so was launched Infinitly Simple, a double-bottom line social enterprise.
