Judi's House offers research-based services that strengthen families and help prevent complications of unaddressed grief and trauma, so bereaved youth in our communities can move forward in adaptive and healthy ways.
"The services my son and I received where a great help to us in managing our grief. The counselors helped us both express and move through our grief in a way that we felt very supported and connected, and able to relate to others who were experiencing similar hardship. Participating in group helped us realize we were far from alone in our grief, hold on to hope, and believe that the future can and will be bright again." - Former Judi's House Client

Judi's House is unique in that we conduct rigorous academic research and program evaluation to examine the impact of childhood bereavement and the effectiveness of our grief services to ensure we are providing best practices. The programs at Judi's House help grieving children stay on a healthy developmental trajectory by promoting adaptive adjustment and preventing negative outcomes associated with bereavement. "Almost 20 years ago, my wife and I co-founded Judi's House in honor of my mother, Judi. When I was only 12 years old, my mom died of breast cancer. Throughout my teen years, I felt isolated and alone. We created Judi's House to fulfill a vision that no child should be alone in grief. We believe that through effective care and support in a safe and comfortable setting that children and families grieving a death can find connection and healing. We continue to grow to meet the overwhelming amount of need in our community and beyond. Thank you for making an enormous difference in the lives of grieving children and families." - Brian Griese, Judi's House/JAG Institute Co-Founder and Board Chairman

"Judi's House started as an idea more than ten years ago. Now that seed has grown into an example of an organization that can have a national impact - and not just help a thousand individuals a year in Colorado, but many, many more in communities beyond Colorado." - John Hickenlooper, United States Senator, Former Governor of Colorado

"Judi's House is a wonderful example of the value of providing preventative services to youth in need in our community. These programs have a profound impact on the futures of hundreds of children every year. They are preventing countless negative outcomes in kids by building healthy coping skills that will help them the rest of their lives." -The Honorable Michael B. Hancock, Denver Mayor
The mission of Judi's House is to help children and families grieving a death find connection and healing, while JAG Institute helps further this mission through comprehensive research and training initiatives.
Judi's House was founded on the belief that all bereaved children and families should have access to effective and compassionate care. Former NFL quarterback Brian Griese was just 12 years old when his mother, Judi, died from breast cancer. Brian and his wife, Brook Griese, PhD, a clinical child psychologist specializing in trauma and loss, founded Judi's House in her memory in 2002.
Judi's House has supported more than 12,000 youth, ages 3-25, and caregivers, toward its vision that no child should be alone in grief.
