$125,000 Goal

You can help sick, injured, and underage pets today by donating to help replace the HVAC systems that keep animals safe and comfortable year-round.

AND your gift will be matched up to $125,000 by our generous friends at an anonymous foundation!

Your compassion today will help provide a clean, comfortable climate for every dog, cat, and small animal who comes through our doors — especially those who are healing from injury.

Meet Archie: Archie came to us as a young pup, emaciated, frightened, and alone. A Good Samaritan found him after he was likely struck by a car. Underfed, anemic, and covered in small abrasions, Archie was weak and struggling to recover. When he developed an upper respiratory infection, our veterinary team worked tirelessly to help him pull through – caring for him through a few close calls.

Archie needed vitamin B injections, cozy bedding and extra heat, and a refeeding plan, including slow feed mats and a special diet.  While he was recovering, Archie caught an upper respiratory infection; we were able to diagnose it right away and treat the infection.

Upgrading our shelter’s HVAC system is essential for animals like Archie. The original system was designed to heat and cool an office building not an animal shelter filled with pets who rely on temperature and air quality for their health and comfort.

Our new system is specially designed to handle the realities of shelter life, including pet hair, larger open spaces, and doors that constantly open and close throughout the day. When temperatures fluctuate or systems fail, sick and recovering pets are at risk – and our teams must work quickly to move them, causing additional stress for animals already in need of rest and stability.

That’s why your support of this critical HVAC replacement project is so important. Your gift will ensure safe, stable, and healthy conditions for every pet in our care, no matter the season.

Please give today to help cover the cost of replacing these essential systems and keep animals like Archie safe, comfortable, and on the path to recovery.

Your gift by 11:59 p.m. will be matched up to $125,000 – doubling your impact for the pets who need it most!

Mission

Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region offers compassionate care to animals, supports safe communities, and provides socially conscious sheltering.

Background Statement

Founded in 1949, Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) is the largest animal welfare group for homeless and abused animals in Colorado. HSPPR is a local, independent nonprofit not affiliated with national organizations such as ASPCA or Humane Society of the United States and relies on donations to fund its work. As an open-admission shelter, no animal is ever turned away. HSPPR staff care for animals in distress, provide medical care for abused and injured animals, reunite lost pets with their owners, find loving homes for homeless animals, investigate animal cruelty, and enforce animal ordinances. We believe pets and people are better together. That’s why we’re here.

HSPPR staff and volunteers care for more than 25,000 homeless animals each year. Animal Law Enforcement responds to more than 40,000 calls for service and investigates nearly 5,000 cruelty and neglect cases.

HSPPR is proud to be a part of the growing socially conscious animal community movement named “Socially Conscious Sheltering.” Together with other animal welfare organizations across the country, HSPPR is dedicated to giving every animal that comes through its doors the care and respect they deserve and the best possible outcome by adhering to Socially Conscious Sheltering tenets.
