Groundwork Denver

Groundwork Denver is about community action with environmental results. 

Our mission is to partner with youth and community to build a healthy, equitable, and sustainable environment. We are doers, not talkers. We plant trees, we clean up rivers, we build trails and sidewalks, we weatherize homes, we grow food, and we do all this through the leadership of community youth who develop green job skills along the way. This has been our work for 20 years now. Your support this Colorado Gives Day will help us build upon 20 years of action towards an environmentally just Denver.

[Groundwork Denver's programming] is important to us because we go out into the community and actually make a change.  It helps a lot of kids out there to interact with the environment because there aren't parks close to them.  We pick up trash, help at food banks, and we even participated in an Earth Day tree planting where we planted over 40 trees in our neighborhood. "As housing prices have increased, many BIPOC community members get pushed out of the downtown areas to neighborhoods on the outskirts of the city. These areas tend to be presently or formerly industrialized, with significant environmental challenges like polluted land and waterways, poor air quality, extreme heat, and flooding. We build teams in these areas to work in their communities; that way, GRIT participants tackle environmental injustices they experience first-hand."
