Background Statement
Community Table | Gather Around
(formerly Arvada Community Food Bank)
Founded in 1982, the Arvada Food Bank, now known as Community Table, began distributing food to families in need from a small house. Now, in our 42nd year, we have grown to be one of the largest emergency food assistance providers in metro Denver, serving Arvada, Edgewater, Denver, Federal Heights, Golden, Thornton, Westminster, Wheat Ridge and surrounding communities. Community Table employs ten staff members and 400 volunteers to feed and provide support and resources for thousands of struggling families annually.
Although providing food is still our core, our support for those in need extends far beyond. In 2014, we added a ‘hand up’ by adding programs and resources struggling families need to lift themselves out of poverty, including emergency financial assistance for rent and utilities, public benefits application assistance, client computer room and job preparation. In 2019, we began hosting showers for people experiencing homelessness and opened an onsite health clinic for underinsured and uninsured children and adults.
Our support for those in need continues to grow. We now offer laundry, shower, vision and dental services, GED tutoring and test preparation and even cooking programs for those on a budget. With your continued support, we know we can do even more to help people in need.
Our current FOOD programs include:
CLIENT CHOICE PANTRY. Provides dignity and empowers those in need to choose their favorite foods. Our shelves are stocked with fresh produce, meat, dairy products, canned goods, bread, personal care products and pet food.
EMERGENCY FOOD BAGS FOR UNSHELETERED PEOPLE. These to-go bags include a one- to two-day supply of food, fresh fruits and vegetables, and personal care items.
MOBILE PANTRY. Brings food to under-served communities, including seniors and disabled adults at low-income housing complexes, homeless students at community college campuses, families living in “weekly” motels, seasonal farmworkers at mobile home parks and more.
