$20,000 Goal

The Colorado Wind Ensemble has made outreach to local school music programs an essential part of our organization from it's beginning in 1984.

CWE members have served as clinicians in area school music programs by providing master classes, leading sectionals, sitting in with student rehearsals and performances, and working side-by-side with students in preparing and presenting concerts.

We have worked with D'Evelyn Jr/Sr High School, Eaglecrest High School, Cherokee Trail High School, Green Mountain High School, Westminster High School, Addenbrooke Classical Academy, Regis High School, ThunderRidge High School, Mountain Vista High School, as well as the Continental League Honor Band and Denver Public Schools Citywide Bands.

In this, our 43rd year, CWE is focused on continuing to enrich and support school bands, by exposing them to our special version of music for winds, brass and percussion.

We hope that you will join us in this endeavor!

Become a new monthly donor, and it will be matched up to $100!

Starting November 1, 2025, if you set up a new recurring monthly donation with the Colorado Wind Ensemble, Colorado Gives Foundation will match your first month’s gift, dollar for dollar, up to $100! (with a total match pool of $250,000 across all organizations) Monthly donations are a powerful way to sustain CWE, and allow you to contribute more than a one-time gift. Even a small monthly gift can provide a steady, reliable source of funding. Your $20 monthly gift becomes $240 over a year; $30 multiplies to $360; $50 to $600 yearly!

Mission

The mission of the Colorado Wind Ensemble is to provide opportunities for musicians to create, and audiences to experience, exceptional performances of live music for woodwinds, brass, and percussion.

Background Statement

The CWE began its 42nd season in the fall of 2024, led by our conductor and musical director Dr. David Kish.

While the majority of our formal concert series is performed at the King Center Concert Hall on the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver, the CWE performs throughout the Denver metropolitan area. The CWE joined in a partnership with Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2015 as an “artist in residence.” The partnership has benefited both parties, and qualified music students at MSUD have the opportunity to play with the CWE on a regular basis during the formal concert season.

CWE has for many years participated in educational outreach with students from the Metro Denver area in concerts, clinics, and master classes. Our 42nd season will include a performance with the D'Evelyn High School Band.

The Inclusive Repertoire Award was established in 2023 to give composers from historically under-represented communities more opportunity to write for and have works performed by a professional-level wind band.

The CWE enjoys a rich history of collaboration with other performing arts organizations, including Colorado Brass, Mudra Dance Studio, Boston Brass, Voices West Chorale, Rocky Mountain Brassworks, Hannah Kahn Dance Company, Fiesta Colorado Dance Company, Queen City Jazz Band, Denver Brass, Pan Jumbies, Stories on Stage, Arvada Chorale, Cherry Creek Chorale, and many others.
