You CAN Inspire Colorado’s Next Generation of River Champions!

Every river needs a champion, and every champion starts with a spark. At Colorado Trout Unlimited, our education programs connect students and communities to the cold, clean waters that sustain life across our state. From classrooms to creeks, these programs bring science, stewardship, and hands-on discovery together to build lasting connections to Colorado’s rivers. Whether we’re supporting teachers through Trout in the Classroom, mentoring students through STREAM Programs, or building community awareness through outreach events, your support ensures more Coloradans understand what it means to care for our rivers.

Why It Matters: Healthy rivers depend on informed communities.

Each year, CTU’s education programs reach thousands of students, educators, and families — empowering them to explore local waterways, monitor stream health, and see firsthand how clean water connects us all.

These moments in the field and classroom shape tomorrow’s conservation leaders, but they also strengthen the communities that protect Colorado’s rivers today. When you give through ColoradoGives.org, your contribution is amplified by the Colorado Gives Day Incentive Fund, increasing the impact of every dollar. Together, we can continue building a Colorado where every person understands their role in keeping our rivers healthy and our trout thriving. Be a River Champion!

Your support makes conservation education possible. Join us this Colorado Gives Day to ensure every student, teacher, and community member has the chance to connect with Colorado’s waters.

Give today. Be a champion for every river.

Testimonials

The list of non-profits who would like your time, talent and money is endless, so why Colorado Trout Unlimited? First is the organization's reason for being. Serving as a champion for clear mountain streams is something that just grabs my heart. Second is the quality of the organization. It is important that the leadership be focused, reasonable in its positions, and fiscally responsible. CTU meets all of those parameters for me.
---Tom Jones, donor and former TU Grassroots Trustee

Trout Unlimited (TU) in Colorado is an effective, science-based, working-with-all-stakeholders organization that gets things done. As a homeowner in the Denver area and Grand County, I cherish the water we use on the front range, and the recreational opportunities that take me to Grand Lake and the Upper Colorado River system. The tenacity of TU staff and engagement of chapters is the reason I'm a donor, and now a member of the Colorado Trout Unlimited (CTU) council board. It's well worth the time and treasure I've committed to the group's outcomes.
---Larry Howe, donor and Board Secretary

Mission

Colorado Trout Unlimited works to conserve, protect and restore Colorado's coldwater fisheries and their watersheds. We bring together diverse interests to care for and recover rivers and streams so our children can experience the joy of wild and native trout.

Background Statement

Colorado Trout Unlimited (Colorado TU) was founded in 1969 as the Colorado grassroots arm of the national organization Trout Unlimited. Colorado TU coordinates and supports on-the-ground activities with local chapters and members and focuses on addressing the conservation needs of Colorado's rivers and watersheds. With the strength of nearly 10,000 members from 22 locally-based chapters statewide, Colorado TU functions as a grassroots organization and uses collaboration, volunteerism, advocacy, and education to promote conservation across Colorado from the headwaters of the Colorado River, to the canyons of the South Platte, to the gold-medal Gunnison and Taylor Rivers.

Our staff of 5 full-time employees is intentionally lean, and leverages the power of members and supporters who contribute more than 40,000 volunteer hours annually to restoration, education, and other conservation projects, equivalent to the power of more than 20 full-time employees.

Whether it is speaking out to protect water quality, collaborating with water users on projects to improve river habitat and connectivity, or engaging the next generation of stewards through youth programming - if you care about Colorado's rivers, there is a place for you with Colorado Trout Unlimited.
