The Foundation helps meet existing needs that are beyond the library's current operating budgets while generating new income to increase offerings to patrons and the community.
The Clearview Library District Friends and Foundation is a vital part of our library. They raise funds to sponsor programs that we would not be able to have otherwise. They also run these programs so library staff do not have to take time away from their duties. The programs are for all ages and very enjoyable for all. A recent example is several activities centered around Nancy Drew's 90th birthday--very engaging and fun. --Mary & Louis Beard
I love the events the foundation sponsors. As a former teacher, I was totally impressed by Wm. Kamkawamba's presentation and his ability to connect with all age groups. The Clearview Library District Friends & Foundation (The Foundation) helps further the library's mission -Cultivate curiosity. Enlighten the mind. Strengthen the community - by providing additional financial support that sustains and expands services to our area's diverse and growing population.
In 2005 our local library was in danger of losing funding due to the economic downturn. Five dedicated library patrons each donated $1000 to begin a foundation to offer additional support to keep our library from closing. This community commitment was the first of many made over the years. The Foundation's Endowment Fund helps meet existing needs that are beyond the library's current operating budges while generating new income to increase offerings to patrons and the community. For example, each year, a small percentage of funds goes to short-term projects such as Clearview Reads, fulfilling staff "wish lists", and supporting Clearview Library District summer programs and events for all ages.
