Testimonials

"CHAC enables artists to gather together as one and share our art and culture with the community. From traditional to contemporary art, our work expresses our history and culture in a way that reaches out to all people - it unifies us in celebration of our Latino culture and educates others about our rich art, culture and traditions." ~CHAC Member Artist

"I was enlightened by the level of our students' interest in their heritage. Much of that enthusiasm was modeled by your two fine instructors. Thank you." ~Local Educator

"During the two hours that you spent with us, the students experienced your excitement, creativity and love for art and expression. They were mesmerized and readily opened themselves up to the experience of writing poetry, creating collage and learning about Hispanic culture. We look forward to our future collaboration as we explore the opportunity to have you guide us through a performance art event. We value your time and expertise, and appreciate your kind donation of both." ~Local Educator

"I wanted to thank you for an awesome art lesson. Also, for being so encouraging to me to do better in everything I do. Thank you for being so nice to me and my class and for teaching me everybody is the same and to respect one another. You have been such an influence on me." ~Local Student

Mission

CHAC is a non-profit organization giving local artists a platform to display their art be it visual, musical, performance or written. For nearly half of a century CHAC has given the Chicano community a venue and has opened doors for many artists that may otherwise have been closed. We continue to serve and educate our community and artists with a focus on heritage, these goals remain the mission of CHAC.

Background Statement

CHAC was founded in 1978 by a group of passionate visual and performing artists with the intention of promoting and preserving the Chicano/Latino culture through the expression of the arts. Currently celebrating its 37th year, CHAC has evolved into a dynamic arts organization focused on meeting the growing demand from the community and fulfilling the organizational mission of preserving and promoting the Chicano/Latino culture through arts and education. In addition to serving as one of the pioneers of Denver's Art District on Santa Fe, CHAC is also the only Chicano/Latino art gallery in Colorado that features the work of both new and established artists.
