Megan Quilliam's CO Gives Campaign
Update: Our community is amazing. As of 7 pm, we reached our donor # goal. So we've set ourselves a stretch goal of $10,000! Help us get there before midnight tonight! With your help, our mission and impact can extend even further in 2024 than ever before!
We use the power of the arts and historic preservation to enhance lives and communities. With ticket revenue accounting for only 15% of our annual budget, we rely on the generosity of patrons like YOU! Donations support our Summer Festival, young artists training, maintenance of our historic properties, and educational programs around CO.
"This organization means a great deal to me, and I will continue to sing its praises, both literally and figuratively. I will also continue to contribute to it financially, both out of gratitude and in the hope that the young artists of today might have the chance to become the leading artists of tomorrow." - Emily Pulley, soprano
"This is summer opera at its most appealing." - The Denver Post
"The Central City Opera only knows one way to do things … and that's the right way. " - The Gazette, Colorado Springs
Central City Opera exists to enrich the lives and communities of those we serve and to provide a welcoming, inclusive environment of beauty and meaning by:
- Creating exceptional opera and musical theater
- Delivering engaging artistic and educational programs to diverse communities throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
- Celebrating and embracing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in all facets of the organization.
- Preserving and protecting the historic opera house and other properties entrusted to Central City Opera
- Cultivating and supporting emerging opera singers and performing arts professionals through world-class training programs.
Founded in 1932 with roots going back to the mid-1800s, Central City Opera (CCO) is entrenched in Colorado's rich history and the history of performing arts in the United States and abroad. CCO is the fifth oldest professional opera company in the country and is renowned for its exquisite world-class productions, competitive and robust young artist training program, and creative educational and community engagement activities. Its annual summer festival, only 35 miles west of Denver, takes place at 8,500 feet above sea level in the Colorado mountain town of Central City, where the company owns and maintains 29 Victorian-era properties, including the intimate 550-seat jewel box opera house built in 1878. Central City Opera serves more than 42,000 students, families and seniors throughout Colorado and Wyoming with educational year-round programming, including live performances, workshops and residencies. In conjunction with the town of Central City, Colorado, the organization is focused on attracting diverse audiences to the town by offering a multitude of rich cultural experiences with a long-term goal of establishing a destination arts district.
