About us

Canine Partners of the Rockies is an Assistance Dogs International accredited non-profit that enables Coloradans with disabilities to lead more independent lives through partnership with highly skilled mobility service and facility dogs. We place our mobility support dogs with no placement fee - removing the financial barrier to getting a service dog, and making our services accessible to more Coloradans.

Mobility Service Dogs

Service dogs dramatically change the lives of people living with disabilities. They can open and close doors, pick up things like keys and wallets, and use keycards for door entry. Some of our dogs have event been trained to help out with the laundry!

Facility Dogs

A Facility Dog is specially trained to work in tandem with a professional in a school, hospital, or counseling center. Facility dogs provide comfort, companionship and courage to kids and patients dealing with trauma, testifying in court, or facing extensive medical procedures. After two years of training for each dog, and a custom match process for every client, we support our teams throughout the lifetime of their partnership.

Community Support & Outreach

During their 2 years of training, we involve our dogs in therapy-type services at local schools, hospitals, counseling centers and within Veteran's programs. These visits provide purposeful animal interaction and connection to individuals and groups who need it, and provide important socialization, exposure and training for our future service pups. It also helps us determine which dogs will be right for which placements. We provide these services to at no charge.

Mission

The mission of Canine Partners of the Rockies (CaPR) is to positively impact the lives of Colorado residents living with a disability by placing highly skilled service dogs with individuals who have mobility limiting conditions and facility dogs with professionals who provide therapeutic services. CaPR also is dedicated to educating the public about the role assistance dogs play in the lives of people with disabilities.
