Mission

Bringing inspiration and joy through fine choral and musical revue performance to the Aurora/Denver Metro area and beyond.

Background Statement

Aurora Singers came to life in 1977 as the Aurora Civic Chorus, meeting a need in the community for for cultural offerings for both audiences and performers within the City of Aurora. As the group grew and developed its own identity, the name was changed to Aurora Singers in 1984. In 1995, Aurora Singers became an independent 501(c)(3) entity having been supported originally through City of Aurora municipal funds.

The ensemble began as a traditional choir performing on risers and without memorization of music. With the hiring of a new director in the early 90s, the Aurora Singers became less of a choir and more of a performance group with the introduction of choreography and costumes. Under this director, Aurora Singers also began holding auditions to raise the level of performance. The group continues to hold auditions but remains steadfast to its commitment as a community performance ensemble, welcoming singers of all abilities.

Aurora Singers is known for its highly entertaining and joy filled performances producing four large shows each year with choreography, costumes and sets. This warm and welcoming ensemble is a first-class example of community building through the arts.
