Celebrating 40 years of advocacy, mentorship, and futures filled with possibilities for children in our community!
This year, Advocates for Children CASA proudly served 2,262 children and youth across Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert, and Lincoln Counties, supporting them through life’s challenges and empowering them to dream, thrive, and grow. In our 40th year, we celebrate four decades of dedication to children and families in our community through six essential programs.
At the heart of our work is the Dependency & Neglect (D&N) Program, connecting children and youth who have experienced abuse or neglect with dedicated Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). Each volunteer is matched with a child or sibling group, offering a stable, consistent presence throughout their journey often assigned to children in foster or kinship care for an average of 22 months. Our two generational approach ensures that while we focus on the child’s wellbeing, we also support parents in their efforts to reunite and rebuild their families whenever possible.
Since 1985, we’ve grown to include five additional programs, embracing a holistic approach of continuum of care. From mentoring and advocacy in truancy and juvenile justice cases to connecting families with vital resources, to housing support for former foster youth and guidance that fosters independence and resilience, our programs are designed to meet children and families where they are and walk alongside them every step of the way.
Thank you for your support!
Mission
Improving the lives of children and youth who have experienced abuse, neglect, or other life challenges, by connecting them with volunteer advocates and activating community partnerships.
Background Statement
Since 1985, Advocates for Children has been serving abused and neglected children. Today we serve the Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties of Colorado, an area covering a total of 6,100 square miles. Our CASA volunteers provide an indispensable service to child victims of abuse and neglect by serving as the eyes and ears of the court. By devoting their attentions to one case at a time, CASA volunteers spend on average of 10-15 hours a month or more with their CASA kids and often know more about the children's situation than any other party to the case. Advocates for Children has achieved an outstanding record of success on behalf of abused and neglected children, helping to ensure that as many children as possible find safe, permanent homes.
