Monica Sanchez 2025 Zonta EducateZ Scholarship Winner
I want to be a voice for those who feel unheard and a guide for those navigating difficult paths. School is not just a place for me to earn a diploma, it’s where I reclaim my dreams, build my future, and inspire my children to pursue theirs.
Karla Cervantes 2023-24 Golden Z Club Education Fund Recipient and Platinum Z Club Member
Empowerment, inclusivity, mentorship, growth, success, confidence. These are the words that come to mind when I think about Zonta. However, Zonta is more than words for me; it's something valuable in my life that has given me the guidance to be the successful woman I always want to become. ... Zonta was there to help. When I was trying to understand who I was and where I belonged as a Latina, Zonta made me feel welcomed. When I didn't feel like I was living enough, Zonta introduced me to different life experiences I always wanted to try but never dared to do alone. There are many things in life I still don't understand, but one thing I know is Zonta has made me feel confident to pursue the best version of myself...because I can!
Natlie Campanelli 2025 Young Women in Leadership Award Recipient
I have always strived to create a better world for women and girls... Zonta's mission of making the world a better place by empowering women is one that I hold close to my heart.
Diane Brenton Boulder High Spanish teacher and Pantherz Z Club Adviser
Boulder High PantherZ Z-Club embodies the spirit of service, leadership, and empowerment among young women and men. Purpose-driven, compassionate high school students tackle important initiatives, from voter engagement to community drives for local families. The Club focuses on fostering a Culture of Respect among all Boulder High students, taking a firm stand against harassment, sexual assault, and discrimination. Guided by the values and dedication of Zonta Foothills Club of Boulder County, these remarkable students are developing into strong, socially-conscious, and globally enlightened leaders. Their dedication and drive are a testament to Zonta's mission and to the bright future that lies ahead for each of them as they make a difference in our community - and beyond.
Our mission is to advance women and girls locally and worldwide through education, health and wellness, economic stability, safety and legal equality. To that end our Foundation, supported by members of the Zonta Foothills Club of Boulder County, underwrites scholarships, leadership groups, mentorship, community service and advocacy programs in Boulder County and the work of Zonta International.
We envision a world in which women's rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential. In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision making positions on an equal basis with men. In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.
Since our charter in 1982 Zonta Foothills Club of Boulder County has been an active part of our Boulder Community We are a chapter of Zonta International and Zonta District 12 and have been supporting women and girls for over 30 years through local service projects, scholarships, advocacy and fundraising. Since 2001 our members have raised more than $500,000 to support community-based and international projects making a significant impact on the lives of women and girls.
In 2012 Zonta Foothills launched our Zonta Educatez program to support at risk women and girls through education and empowerment. Our Zonta Educatez program provides scholarships, mentoring and individual support towards education and empowerment. We sponsor the Boulder High School Pantherz Z Club and the Flatirons Golden Z Club for college-aged women providing leadership development.
Each of our scholarships and education funds help to defray the cost of tuition, books, travel and other fees. We support education from high school through graduate school. We raise funds to support our Golden Z Club Education Fund, The Pantherz ZClub Scholarship, the CU Bev Hackbart Scholarship, the Young Women in Public Affairs Award, The Zonta Edcatez Scholarship and our newest away the Bev Sears Climate Action Scholarship. Since 2010 The Zonta Foothills Foundation has awarded more than $95,000 in educational scholarships to Boulder County students.
We have also distributed more then 60,000 books through our 5 free libraries. Situated around Boulder County, they provide free books to under resourced families at food banks, Safe House, EFFA Neighborhood Centers and the Boulder Justice Center.
Our members are 100% volunteer and we have no paid staff.
