The Aspen Effect’s mission is to increase the resiliency of youth in Douglas County, Colorado, by helping them to reimagine themselves in positive ways.  Like the uncommon aspen tree root system, our approach helps youth connect, heal & thrive. This unique approach to growing resiliency among youth is achieved through the therapeutic relationships developed with animals and supportive relationships developed with adult mentors. The Aspen Effect was created to fill an identified gap in services for Douglas County youth. Now in its third year of operations, the organization has the vision of ensuring that youth throughout the county have access to services that encourage their healthy development by participating in community, strengthening resilience, and adopting positive social norms.

Mission

The Aspen Effect was created to help all youth become more resilient in a world with rising expectations, growing social disconnection and increasing mental health struggles. We collaborate with parents and guardians to help kids reimagine themselves in positive ways through the support of a caring adult mentor, a unique animal experience and a strength-based approach.
