Background Statement
YPR envisions a world where everyone can access the necessary tools to recover from substance use disorder. YPR's mission is to provide the life skills and peer supports that young people need to thrive and be successful in long-term recovery from addiction to drugs and alcohol.
YPR was formed in 2010 by young people in recovery (defined as under age 30) who wanted to help others. Today, we are the largest national grassroots organization focusing on peer recovery supports for youth and young adults.
YPR embraces all pathways to recovery including 12-step, faith-based, medication-assisted and individuals who do not identify with any particular treatment or recovery philosophy.
Our programs consist of chapters for youth and young adults in recovery from substance use disorder; life-skills curriculums for individuals in recovery from SUD; and advocacy to reduce stigma and create more resources for recovery.
YPR has 65 chapters nationwide including 10 in Colorado: Adams County, Arapahoe County, Arvada, Cañon City, Colorado Springs, Cortez, Denver, Denver-Spanish, Durango, and Pueblo.
