We are World at Hand, bringing global opportunities to all! As a small, Denver-based nonprofit, we focus on equity in international and cultural education, and we are proud recipients of the 2024 Institute of International Education (IIE) Empower Award for our DEIA efforts. This recognition confirms the effectiveness and quality of our programs and highlights our commitment to closing opportunity gaps for low-income and underrepresented students, providing life-changing pathways toward upward mobility and helping them envision a future that transcends borders.
Our mission is to close the opportunity gap in the U.S. education system, particularly in study abroad and international education programs. Former Secretary of Education Arne Duncan once said, “In the 21st century, a quality education is an international education.” At World at Hand, we strive to make this a reality for low-income and underrepresented students from the Denver Metro Area and, eventually, across the country.
As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, international experiences and global connections are crucial for success. Our programs target diverse students—those who are often least likely to access these opportunities. By introducing these students to the world beyond their borders, we empower them to explore new cultures, gain invaluable global perspectives, and realize their potential as equal participants in the global community.
Through scholarships, passport assistance, comprehensive travel education, and post-abroad career development we aim to create leaders who can impact their local communities and the world. With every student we support, we take a step closer to a future where international education is accessible to all, regardless of background.
