Will you help us provide food, medical care, education, love and the hope of the Gospel to a child?
"People in the community are seeing the church care for children in a different way. Instead of seeing them as domestic slaves, they see us loving them and caring about their wellbeing. This is changing the way people treat children in our community." (Pastor Pierre of Mission Eglise El-Schaddai church in Port Au Prince, Haiti)
"Home Based Care helps marginalized people in the community find their identity." (HBC coordinator at Wolisso Kale Heywet Church in Wolisso, Ethiopia)
"Through medical clinics, the church has a unique opportunity to reach out into the community to draw and minister to people they've never met before." (Pastor Wilson of Eglise de Dieu D'Andullan in Port Au Prince, Haiti)
"What a blessing it is for our church to partner with our dear brothers and sisters in Nicaragua to minister physically and spiritually to so many precious children. We are thankful for the ministry of World Orphans." (Pastor Scott Distler of Gaylord E-Free Church in Gaylord, MI)
"The children have become more motivated in school - improving significantly, they have a sense of belonging, a sense of security." (Pastor Siva Moodley of Christian Life Centre in Chatsworth, South Africa)
"The community is thirsty for training. We teach them about their purpose in life, that their lives are important - the Bible tells us so. We teach them that children are a gift, not a burden." (Mrs. Lucnie Demero of Eglise De La Bonne Nouvelle in Port Au Prince, Haiti)
Our church-to-church partnerships are about relationships. As a few of our pastors in Haiti shared, "We are not alone, we have friends," "These relationships are like family," and, "These relationships are the real thing."
As our Home Based Care coordinators in Ethiopia have shared, "Building relationships with families opens their hearts to us," and, "Visiting poor and marginalized people makes them feel loved."
"We are very grateful for World Orphans coming alongside with us in helping to transform the communities through caring for orphan children." (Pastor Sudhakar of Bethel Gospel Church in Hyderabad, India)
We seek to equip, inspire, and mobilize the church to care for orphans and vulnerable children. Churches engaged. Children restored. Communities transformed by the gospel of Christ.
World Orphans was founded in 1993 when a group of friends started a foundation to answer God's call to care for orphaned and abandoned children by helping a church outside Nicaragua's capital city of Managua care for orphans living on their streets.
Much has been learned over the past 20+ years - models of care have grown and evolved - but our commitment to the local church remains strong.
Today, we are committed to seeing orphans and vulnerable children cared for wholistically (physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually) in families through our Home Based Care initiative. Ministry teams from local churches mentor and disciple families that have taken in orphans, providing love, care, and the hope of the Gospel. U.S. churches come alongside an international church to form a church-to-church partnership built on relationship, as together we work to care for orphans.
