Woodmoor Nordic is a tax exempt nonprofit organization (EIN 86-2231471) offering cross country skiing to the public in the Pikes Peak region, including ski rentals and lessons. When we have snow we create groomed ski trails, both classic and skate, on the Country Club at Woodmoor golf course in Monument, CO. Kids 16 and under ski free with a paying adult, and youth ski rentals are available for no-charge by online reservation (limited supply).
To provide groomed cross-country ski trails and ski equipment to the general public to improve public access for outdoor winter recreation in the Pikes Peak region, and to provide opportunities for free and reduced cost Nordic ski trail access, rentals and lessons to area youth.
Woodmoor Nordic Nonprofit was formed in 2020 to take over the privately run (LLC) grooming operation previously occurring on this golf course since 2015. Given our fickle front range weather, our local Nordic ski season can last from only a few weeks to 4+ months, and there are often temporary trail closures between snow storms until we build up a decent snow base. The location of the golf course (at roughly 7400 feet of elevation near the Palmer Divide), and the many North facing golf greens hold the snow extremely well, allowing for good skiing without the long drive to the mountain resorts. The fact that the majority of the ski trails have fairway grass underneath allows us to groom and open for skiing with minimal snow depth. This will be the ninth season of offering easy access to local Nordic skiing at the Country Club at Woodmoor.
