Testimonials

I write this note with my highest support possible for the WINGS OF HOPE to be able to participate in COLORADO GIVES DAY. I am the Director of the University of Colorado Cancer Center and the Chairman of the Department of Surgery. I am so grateful to this nonprofit organization for the funding it provides in pilot projects that are used by researchers and clinicians to develop new prevention strategies, early detection tests, and better treatments for pancreatic cancer. We estimate that pilot funds often yield a 20-fold return on the initial investment as it allows our researchers and clinicians to gather data and outcomes to submit to the National Institutes of Health and other organizations for further grant funding. WINGS OF HOPE has funded many projects over the last decade that have led to discoveries of benefit to patients. Pancreatic cancer is the number three cancer killer of Americans and within the next five years will unfortunately rise to the number two cancer killer. I am happy to answer any questions by phone and my contacts are below.
Sincerely,

Rich Schulick

Maureen Shul, founder of WINGS OF HOPE, has been an incredible community leader in our battle against pancreatic cancer.

Everyone hates cancer-especially when it harms a loved one. But what folks like Maureen understand is that the only way to find more effective cancer treatments is research-and science can't happen without funding.

The early funding raised by WINGS OF HOPE helped our lab at the CU Cancer Center open up exciting new lines of research that are now being translated into actual human treatments.

This horrible pandemic shows the importance of learning how to defeat humanity's microscopic enemies. Thanks to the Maureen Shul's of the world, we WILL find a way to defeat BOTH coronavirus AND cancer cells.

Our CU Hospital team are fighting cancer one experiment and one patient at a time. We aren't just providing patients with the best available cancer treatment. Our research is finding BETTER treatments.

American Cancer Society data show that pancreatic cancer is the THIRD leading cause of cancer deaths. Nearly 50,000 Americans are likely to die of pancreatic cancer this year unless we identify better treatments.

As the coordinator for the Pancreas Cancer Multidisciplinary Program, it has been an honor to work with the Wings of Hope Foundation. This foundation has been instrumental in helping the CU Cancer Center accomplish its mission on conquering pancreas cancer. With the help of their fundraising, where 100% of their proceeds go to our pancreas cancer program, we have been able to dedicate our efforts towards innovative pancreas cancer research. The CU Cancer Center is lucky to have this partnership, for we both want to achieve the same goal: finding a cure for pancreas cancer.

In 2018 WINGS OF HOPE was involved in bringing a new and promising clinical trial to the CU Cancer Center for the treatment of pancreatic cancer. By the end of 2021, WINGS OF HOPE will have donated $1,000,000 to the CU Cancer Center for pancreatic cancer research. WINGS OF HOPE is an all volunteer organization, with every dollar raised going directly toward pancreatic cancer research at the CU Cancer Center, Anschutz Medical Campus.
