Wild Bear Nature Center is entering it's 31st year of inspiring a "lifelong connection to community and nature through the creative exploration of the outdoors."
On October 9, 2025, a devastating fire destroyed Wild Bear's interim nature center in downtown Nederland which was the heart of our community’s connection to nature. The loss is profound. The fire took everything--our educational tools and supplies, animal ambassadors, exhibits, murals and gift shop--shutting down our general visitors' center. And, our programming continues!!! Just 48 hours after the fire, our educational team had 2nd graders in the woods.
The Fire Relief Fund has been established to:
Complete the new nature center, our permanent net-zero home on Peak to Peak Hwy
Support current programming in temporary locations and build programs and exhibits for the new nature center.
With your support, Wild Bear will rise from the ashes and create an even stronger, more resilient home for generations to come. If you'd like to contribute in other ways beyond online, Wild Bear also accepts checks and cash, stock gifts, donor-advised funds, life insurance policies, and all other forms of giving. Email gowild.wildbear.org if you'd like to discuss the options. If you'd like to mail a donation to support this fund, please mail to PO Box 3017, Nederland, Colorado 80466
