Colorado's greatest strength is how we’re woven together  — and you’re weaving your thread into something powerful.

Across our state, women are facing real challenges: working to keep food on the table, to stay safe, to be heard in systems that increasingly ignore their voices.

The threads that bind our communities – care, equity, opportunity – are fraying. But our collective power cannot be unraveled.

Each of us holds a single, vital thread — one act of generosity, one voice, one choice to show up.

When woven together, our threads create a tapestry strong enough to lift all women and strengthen all of Colorado.

Together, in 2025 we:

  • Granted an additional $500,000 to 50+ organizations fortifying Colorado’s social safety net for women and families.
  • Passed legislation safeguarding the rights of victim-survivors of gender-based violence, abortion care seekers, and LGBTQ+ individuals.
  • Put more money directly into the hands of women meeting their families’ basic needs — and women leaders of color sustaining their communities.

Every thread matters. Every gift counts. Every woman benefits.

But our work isn't finished. The social safety net still has gaps. Women's voices still need amplifying. Economic barriers still need dismantling. The coming year will test everything we've sewn together — and your support determines how strong our collective fabric remains.

One thread alone is fragile. Thousands woven together? UnbreakableYour gift becomes even more powerful when it's made between now and Colorado Gives Day!

Mission

Catalyzing community to advance and accelerate economic opportunities for Colorado women and their families.

Background Statement

WFCO is the only community foundation in the state focused on gender, racial, and economic equity. We invest in the inherent gifts and talents of women so they have what they need to be leaders in their lives, their families, their businesses, and their communities. We do this through philanthropy, community, public policy advocacy, grantmaking, and research.

Recent legislation and ballot measures we helped to pass through our advocacy include equal pay for equal work, paid family and medical leave, universal pre-kindergarten, and eliminating state sales tax on diaper, incontinence, and period products. We also granted more than $2.6 million in the last fiscal year to nonprofits across the state through our WINcome and Women & Girls of Color Fund grantmaking programs.
