ABOUT THE WDC

Empowering Communities Through Comprehensive Support

Founded with the vision of creating equitable opportunities for all, WDC has grown into a hub for innovation, learning, and community building. From our hands-on development programs to our holistic health initiatives, every aspect of our work is driven by our commitment to empowering individuals and strengthening communities.

Over the years, WDC has evolved to address the unique challenges faced by underrepresented groups, including women, immigrants, and those seeking pathways to success. Our story is one of resilience and collaboration, built on the belief that everyone deserves access to the tools and resources needed to thrive. Through partnerships, mentorship, and a supportive network, we’ve created a platform where dreams turn into actionable plans, and aspirations become achievements.

SUGARY STOP

The Sugary Stop is a youth-led social enterprise that gives young people their first real job experience while teaching them the skills, discipline, and confidence needed to thrive in school, work, and life. Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and real customer interactions, youth learn how to operate a business, solve problems, and build the social-emotional strengths that help them succeed long after the program ends.

Mission

WDC helps people build safer and more stable lives through economic opportunity and community support.

Background Statement

Even in a growing state like Colorado, many people still struggle to achieve stability. Families face rising costs. Workers need pathways to stronger careers. Entrepreneurs need guidance to start or grow businesses. Many individuals lack support navigating health coverage. And youth need safe places to learn, lead, and earn their first job experience.

More than 1 in 9 youth experience economic hardship and over 345,000 Coloradans remain uninsured. These challenges affect whole households and entire communities.

The WDC exists to close these gaps.
