SUGARY STOP
Sugary Stop is more than a seasonal drink stand — it’s a youth-driven social enterprise launched by four inspiring teens from the Wezesha Dada Center’s Youth Development Program. Aged 13 to 17, these young leaders turned their entrepreneurship training into action, transforming a classroom idea into a real business with meaningful impact in their community.
PROGRAM SUMMARY
Youth Development Program — Builds leadership skills, financial literacy, emotional resilience, and positive decision-making so youth can move toward stable futures.
Sugary Stop – Youth Micro-Enterprise — A hands-on lemonade business that teaches teens entrepreneurship, budgeting, teamwork, and customer service.
Adult Entrepreneur Mentorship — One-on-one and group guidance to help adults start or grow small businesses, organize finances, and build confidence.
Advocacy — Uplifts community voices and promotes fair opportunities that strengthen Colorado families.
CNA Cooperative Initiative — Supports caregivers in building a cooperative model that improves wages, dignity, and shared opportunity.

WDC empowers youth and adults with the hands-on skills, confidence, and support they need to build financially stable futures for themselves and their families.
Background Statement
We believe every person deserves the chance to build a stable, confident, and prosperous future—no matter where they begin. Yet across Colorado, youth and adults are trying to navigate life without financial skills, trusted guidance, or supportive mentors. Nearly 30% of Colorado workers earn too little to support a family, and families who start behind often stay behind.¹
At WDC, we walk alongside youth and adults who are working to rewrite their story, but have been denied access to safe spaces, real-world skills, or supportive networks. We meet people where they are and stay with them through the process of becoming confident decision-makers who can build stable futures.
One student told us, “We don’t need to learn just how to manage money—we need to learn how to make money.” Another bravely admitted, “Ms. Maya, I don’t know how to use my ATM card.” That honesty is only possible when young people feel protected, respected, and supported.
WDC provides the guidance, tools, and support people need to change what’s possible—before challenges become generational. With your help, we can reach more youth and families, stop the cycle of instability, and build stronger futures across our communities.
