The mission of Westwood Unidos is to organize and unify leaders in the Westwood neighborhood of Denver, Colorado to implement strategic initiatives that Westwood residents identify as most important to improving overall community health and well-being. To help with our mission we have additional projects that include a youth-led bicycle repair shop and bike library as well as a family nature club. Westwood Unidos also offers Health and wellness classes at its main location, La Casita.
La Casita (Community House)
La Casita at 3790 Morrison Road offers a range of classes and workshops in English & Spanish at a very low cost, or free. Check out our website for a description of La Casita's classes with the most up-to-date schedule: www.centrolacasita.org. Classes change regularly, and have included: Zumba, Nutrition, Computer Tutoring, Women's Support Group, Yoga, Tae-Kwon-Do, Music and More! All are welcome.
To unify, organize, educate and empower neighborhood families and leaders, and partner with community-based organizations to address and positively transform the topics and challenges the community identifies as most important.
Westwood Unidos was founded in 2012 by residents and organizations previously working together as LiveWell Westwood. WU conducted hundreds of listening conversations with residents to hear the community’s motivation to act. WU then created community action teams to create safer streets and alleys, start a community center, promote school wellness and oral health, and promote transit projects.
