The Western Slope Center for Children (or "Center for Children") provides collaborative services to child abuse victims and their families. This year, the Center for Children will serve more than 300 children in cases involving child abuse allegations. While sexual abuse is by far the most prevalent abuse type that children present at the agency for, the Center for Children staff does work in a variety of case types: physical abuse & neglect, drug endangerment, witness to domestic violence & homicide, and much more. A case type on the rise at the agency this year is child pornography victimizations.

The Center for Children has a team of professionals across five core areas of service dedicated to providing child victims and their families help, hope, and healing. Working alongside strong community partnerships, the Center for Children seeks to ensure that children whose voices are silenced by their abuser will once again have them restored.

Mission

The Center promotes healing and justice for children who are victims of violence and sexual abuse while striving to make the community safer through prevention, education, and advocacy.

Background Statement

The Western Slope Center for Children was established in 1997 out of a nationally recognized need that child victims of sexual abuse required increased advocacy. In order to reduce the impact of trauma for young victims the advocacy center was introduced to provide one central location where collaborating agencies could provide services to a child.
