Housing has emerged as the number one obstacle facing veterans in this valley. WSVC is in the process of creating a Tiny Home Community in Silt CO.  Please click on the video below in the Media Gallery to learn more this exciting project!

Testimonials

Finding a home for a family of ten—a retired U.S. Army veteran, his wife, and their eight children—was a daunting task. They explored options like the HUD-VASH program without success, even with a VA home loan approval and their own modest savings. When they found a modular home in Battlement Mesa, our Emergency Fund Committee recognized their need. We approved a crucial down payment contribution, complementing their efforts. Denied by other sources, they were finally able to secure a mortgage and moved into their new home around August 2023. We are so proud to have played a part in their journey; we've stayed in touch, and they're thriving.

Giving Activity

Mission

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for service members, veterans, and their families. The Coalition was established to prevent veteran suicide by fostering a supportive community where veterans feel valued, connected and cared for, providing critical points of connection to other veterans and all veteran-related services. WSVC is a volunteer-driven organization that works to ensure that the 1% of our population who are willing to put their life on the line to protect our freedoms have the appreciation and services those men and women deserve.

Background Statement

In 2015, after the suicides of two Marine Corps Combat Veterans Jesse Beckius and Casey Owens, a group of veterans from the Roaring Fork and Colorado River valleys banded together to assist fellow veterans, resulting in conversations about the need to increase coordination and resources in support of those with military experience.

WSVC was formed from the work of this committed group of individuals (all volunteers) throughout the Colorado, Roaring Fork and Eagle valleys, the Western Slope Veterans Coalition, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
