The person who owned the home in the yellow circle above saved his home. He contacted West Region Wildfire Council for a free site visit. The suggestions helped him harden his home to lessen its chance of burning. He also participated in our cost-share program to create defensible space on his property. It paid off! His home sustained no damage when a wildfire burned his community.
West Region Wildfire Council works with homeowners and partners to mitigate the risks from catastrophic wildfires to people, homes, communities and natural resources. We work in Delta, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Montrose, Ouray and San Miguel Counties in Colorado. Your support can help low-income and underserved people to benefit from our programs. Your donation also helps us to create fuel breaks to protect communities and thin vegetation along roads so firefighters can safely reach residents and homes.
