White Dwarf Research Corporation

A nonprofit organization

We conduct basic scientific research using NASA space telescopes, ground-based observatories, and national super-computing facilities. We also engage in public education through web-based outreach programs, regular public lectures, and a periodic science news column published in the local newspaper.

Testimonials

"As humans, we have a fundamental need to be part of something greater than ourselves. [This organization] allows us to not only feel part of something greater but actually be part of something greater, as our donation helps support further exploration of our universe." ~Matthew Crouse (Facebook Review)

Mission

A nonprofit organization dedicated to scientific research and public education.

Background Statement

Dr. Travis Metcalfe founded White Dwarf Research Corporation in July 1999 while he was a graduate student in astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin. His goal was to take advantage of emerging technologies to establish a research institute that could operate with lower overhead and greater efficiency than is possible at universities or federal laboratories. The organization officially moved its headquarters to Colorado in 2009, and the business office is currently located in Golden.
