Seth's Best Day Ever

Ask Seth about his day, and you’ll likely hear the same answer: “It was the best day ever!” His mom, Marla, laughs. “It was always the best day.”

When we first shared Seth’s story in 2021, he was living on his own and working at Chick-fil-A in Longmont. Five years later, his independence keeps growing, and Via Mobility Services is there for every step. 

For years, Seth kept a dream book, writing down his hopes and prayers. One dream was to work in a coffee shop of his own. Inspired by Seth, Marla and her family opened Best Day Ever! Café in Longmont, a welcoming place that creates jobs for people with disabilities. “We want every single person who walks through the door to feel loved,” Marla says. “Everybody deserves the best day ever.” 

Today, Seth works two jobs: Thursdays at the café, where he runs the register, makes coffee, and washes dishes, plus his longtime job at Chick-fil-A. Via Mobility Services gets him to both. For Seth, work means more than a paycheck. It means friendships, community, and doing something he loves.

Ask Seth if he enjoys living on his own, and he answers with a cheerful, “Oh, yeah, I do.” Ask about his independence, and he says proudly, “I am now.”

For Marla, every ride is about more than getting from one place to another. Getting ready, being on time, and traveling without a parent all build Seth’s confidence. “Everything we can do to create independence is important, and that’s what Via does,” she says. “I truly couldn’t do my job without Via. It brings him a beautiful life, and it also gives me a lot of freedom.”

That confidence is taking Seth farther than ever. He recently took his first solo airplane trip, to Ohio to visit a close family friend. “He had no fear. None,” Marla says. “He was ready to go.” He’s already talking about his next adventure.

“I can’t even put a price tag on what Via brings to my community and to me as a parent,” Marla says. “There are lots of things you can give to. In my world, this is one at the top of the list because it brings so much independence to our community.”
