Background Statement
When a doctor told Beverly during her pregnancy that her daughter Verity with Edwards syndrome was “retarded” and would be “a drain on the family, mentally, emotionally, and financially,” she was devastated.
But that moment was a turning point, because it brought out Mama Bear. This journey started in heartache…but it shifted to HOPE as fierce love drove Beverly to find the tender care her baby needed.
Today, Verity has overcome statistics and is thriving! Beverly launched a nonprofit to empower and equip other moms to step into their Mama Bear role. Mama Bear Care (aka Verity’s Village) empowers women who have received a prenatal diagnosis to embrace their Mama Bear role, equipping them to advocate for their special babies with fierce love and tender care.
