Vail Friends of Dance (VFOD) is a nonprofit organization based in the Vail Valley that is made up entirely of volunteers who are dedicated to the development of our local dancers. VFOD was founded over 35 years ago, in 1984, by Denise Briner, Henry Hill, Joanne Morgan and Sybill Navas.

The Vail Friends Of Dance’s mission is dedicated to supporting and inspiring young dancers through education and financial assistance. VFOD supports Vail Youth Ballet Company by contributing time and funding for VYBC’s artistic directors, studio/theater rental, costume/equipment storage, studio/special master classes, choreography fees, production costs, financial aid, scholarships and social events.

The original vision of providing financial assistance, additional dance training and community outreach lives on in everything VFOD does today. VFOD is managed by a Board of Directors, comprised of volunteer members who meet on a monthly basis to discuss fundraising events, annual budgets and the distribution of funds.

Vail Friends of Dance presents the annual Nutcracker Ballet featuring dancers from the Vail Youth Ballet Company and Vail Valley Academy of Dance. This year's Nutcracker performances are December 15 - 17th at the Vilar Center in Beaver Creek. Ticket sales, program guide ads, silent auction and the bake sale monies raised contribute to the Vail Friends of Dance efforts in supporting young dancers in the Vail Valley community.
