At Vail Jazz, our unwavering organizational mission to perpetuate jazz music through the presentation of jazz performances and educational programs has a lasting impact on the community. Founded with a passion for preserving and promoting the timeless American art form of jazz, Vail Jazz has become a pillar of our local community and the jazz world, dedicated to expanding the audience for jazz and creating performance opportunities for jazz musicians.

At the heart of Vail Jazz's mission lies a commitment to capture the essence of this rich musical genre while keeping it fresh, relevant, and accessible to all generations. Vail Jazz seeks to connect people with the power and magic of jazz music through the electrifying energy of live jazz performances.

Education holds a central place in Vail Jazz's ethos. Understanding that nurturing the next generation of jazz enthusiasts and artists is vital for the genre's longevity, we place a strong emphasis on jazz education for youth. Through a range of educational programs, workshops, and initiatives, Vail Jazz strives to inspire and empower young minds with the beauty and intricacies of jazz. By instilling a deep appreciation for jazz early on, the organization aims to create lifelong fans and future jazz musicians.

A core aspect of Vail Jazz's identity revolves around cherishing the bonds of community. We take immense pride in fostering connections between musicians, Workshop alumni, and patrons. By creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere, Vail Jazz has managed to create a close-knit network of jazz enthusiasts, where a shared passion for the art form brings people together, transcending differences and uniting them under the umbrella of jazz. We call this our jazz family.

Testimonials

"In this era where creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication are every bit as important as reading, writing, and mathematics - music and arts education are critical to our children growing up to be happy, successful, and appreciative of all the wonders life has to offer. Eagle County Schools is incredibly grateful to the Vail Jazz Foundation for bringing quality music programming to all our students and keeping vibrant and dynamic music of jazz alive for generations to come." - Dr. Jason Glass, Former Superintendent, Eagle County Schools

"The variety of music found at the Vail Jazz Festival is opening my mind and helping me enjoy music more than I ever possible." -John W., Festival Attendee

"Over the years, Jazz Goes to School has helped me to be a better musician, to understand jazz more, and to be comfortable teaching about jazz in the classroom. My students have really enjoyed learning, and when I ask them questions about the favorite things of the year, Jazz Goes to School always comes up. They mention the different instruments, they love to learn the Samba rhythms in the first session, they have a lot of fun writing their own blues lyrics and it has been a great experience for all of us." - Dawn Vallejos, Music Teacher, Edwards and Eagle Valley Elementary Schools

"My favorite part of Jazz Goes to School is when they do the trumpet and saxophone solos because they are really loud and clear. I really like the sound of them!" - Luis, 4th Grade, St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School
