Anny and her two young children are clients at the Youth Closet and Toy Chest. She reached out to an employee to express how grateful she is for United Way's support and wanted to share her story. Anny has a brain tumor and the tumor's side effects make it very difficult for her some days. Her greatest fear is that this tumor will take her away from her children too soon and as a single mother this weighs on her daily. Anny has come to the Youth Closet and Toy chest for clothing and supplies many times since we opened. During her visits she has received not only material support for her children but also mental and emotional support to help her through this difficult time. Anny thanked United Way for helping her community and leaving such a large and lasting impact on her family.

Background Statement
Over the last 26 years United Way of Eagle River Valley has become a leading agency in Eagle County for volunteer coordination, collaboration leadership and community crisis response.
Since 1996, United Way of Eagle River Valley has created opportunities and provided essential community services in Eagle County through collaboration and program support. Our founders created UWERV to serve as the local community chest and in recent years we have grown to provide direct, personalized support to our community members in response to the community need.
Accordingly, we now serve the community through the Youth Closet & Toy Chest. With our small team of two full time employees, multiple part-time team members and a lot of volunteers we work to empower individuals and families in our community to achieve their human potential through our collective impact. We believe health, education and financial stability are the building blocks for opportunity- individually and collectively.
