Background Statement
Founded in 1975, USA Rugby is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with its national headquarters in Lafayette, Colorado. USA Rugby is the national governing body for the sport of rugby in the United States. It is a member of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and World Rugby. The organization has more than 119,000 members, including 11,000 Colorado members, and is dedicated to serving the sport through promotion, development and education.
USA Rugby believes that rugby is "A Game for All." Every USA Rugby program promotes diversity, outreach and celebrates the differences that make our members unique and special. The organization is responsible for the development of boys, girls, high school, collegiate and club rugby programs as well as national teams representing the U.S. in international competitions. USA Rugby leads initiatives to develop the nation's rugby coaches, referees, and administrators. As part of these efforts, USA Rugby hosts multiple domestic courses, clinics, National Championship events and international matches throughout the year.
